Token Group manages and tours Australia’s best comedians.

We need a Digital Content Coordinator to help us develop and execute social media strategies to promote our touring shows. This person will work with our artists to develop and distribute their online content, as well as maintaining Token’s sites. This includes developing content for www.comedy.com.au.

If you can operate a camera, do some basic editing and basic design you have a much better chance of getting the gig than if you can’t.

If you haven’t been to a live comedy show in the last few months then this position is probably not for you. This is a role for someone with a keen interest in, and knowledge of, the Australian comedy industry.

This is not a senior role but if you love comedy and playing with social media then this could be a great gig for you.

Salary is about $40,000 – $45,000 PA

Technical skills required:
Moderate HTML/CSS experience
Basic Final Cut Pro experience
Basic Photoshop/graphic design experience
Overall knowledge of Twitter and Facebook functions
-Basic usage
-Facebook ‘Pages’ administration
Sound editing experience
- Soundtrack Pro or Logic etc
Moderate experience with Domain name/website management

This is a spinoff show from ‘The Minutes’, the popular podcast from comedian Melinda Buttle and The Grates front-woman Patience Hodgson. ‘You’re Welcome’ was originally a segment in ‘The Minutes’, but the pair had too much help to give and not enough time, so the new podcast was born. The show premiered at number 2 in the comedy podcast charts – it’s currently sitting at number 9.

Critically acclaimed comedian’s comedian, Justin Hamilton, and Melbourne comedy icon Adam Richard return with the second season of their live Melbourne comedy show ‘The Shelf’ this Monday (6 Feb).

Here’s a description of the show in Justin’s own words

Each week Adam and I will host a show that will have stand up, chats, podcast recording and a game show.  We will be giving you the best comedians we know and the comedians we genuinely enjoy the company of.  Everyone on the show has been picked for a specific reason and we plan on having as much fun as possible.  If we get arrested in the process then I consider that to be a success.

The first season was a big success and featured some of Australia’s best comedians including Tom Gleeson, Denise Scott, Lehmo, Josh Thomas, Tony Martin with Justin and Adam hosting.

Here are the headline acts for the second 3 week season:

Feb 13th: Felicity Ward
Feb 20th: Cal Wilson

Production has officially begun on ‘The Unbelievable Truth’, Channel 7′s new panel show from The Chaser’s Craig Reucassel, Julian Morrow and Andrew Hansen .

The show has been adapted from the BBC radio program of the same name – hosted by Peep Show’s David Mitchell. The basic idea of the show is this: each week comedians join a panel and present a talk made up mostly of ridiculous lies plus five unbelievable truths. As the talk is presented by each guest, the panel interrupts the story when they think they have spotted a ‘truth’.

The BBC radio show is hugely popular in the UK (they still listen to panel radio shows) and has now been running for 8 years. The show was originally created by Greame Garden of The Goodies, who has also been working with the team to develop the TV adaption. Craig Reucassel will be taking the hosting position with Julian and Andrew as regulars.

In the wake of Australian favourites Good News Week and Spicks and Specks, the current opportunity for a new quality panel show is eerily perfect – and between The Chaser and The Goodies, this one looks like it’s in good hands.

Confirmed guests so far include Sam Simmons, Kitty Flanagan, Akmal, The Umbilical Brothers, Merrick Watts, Jimeoin, Scott Dooley, Cal Wilson, Sarah Kendall, Toby Truslove, Tom Gleeson and other special guests.
